Wish List

Wish List

I've always enjoyed giving to others rather than open up a bunch of presents for myself, but the other day my mom insisted I come up with a list for her. I mostly would like more clothes to work out in haha...oh yea and a juicer.

Back to Basics

It's been almost seven months since I last wrote. It's something I wish I was more religious about because I enjoy it. I suppose I should become more organized about the process to make it easier. My interest in fashion has taken a back seat to a couple major changes going on in my life. I've decided to change career paths and go into the public health field as a Registered Dietician. School, work, and boxing have consummed my life and drained me of any possible extra energy to want to do anything else. The other day I had a breakthough. I looked in the mirror at my outfit and realized I had stopped putting effort into what I was wearing to school, and I didn't feel like myself. That very day I decided to spluge and go shopping for myself for what seemed like the first time in years. It felt good to get a bit of my identity back. I've decided to make a promise to myself that at least once a week, I'll try to do something fashion related. I would like it to be writing a post, but even if it's reading a fashion magazine, or going thrift shopping that would be great. I know fashion...it's in my blood, and it makes me happy. Sometimes I get caught up and lose sight of that....

Gorilla Style

FINALLY!!! A outfit post..I know what you're thinking, it's been forever righttttt! I don't know how most bloggers do it, they must have someone follow them around like mini paparazzi worshiping the ground they walk on and breathlessly waiting for them to change into another genius outfit. Regardless, my housemate and I just so happened to pull up at the same time so I saw this as my window of opportunity. I quickly shoved my iPhone in his hands and told him to snap away. He felt it necessary to keep including his bike which he just brought out from hibernation. He asked me if I wanted to pose with it and I told him these weren't those kind of pictures. I also almost spilled my boiling hot coffee all over my face mid picture...so glamorous.

Moving on up

So It's official..April 1st I'll be moving into my very first apartment all by myself! It's so exciting, I feel like this is a monumental growing up event, like getting your drivers licence or something. It's kinda freaking me out a little bit. I suppose this time is as good as any, I mean I am turning 25 this year...woof. The apartment is so beautiful and since I've laid eyes on it I've been decorating the entire place in my head 24/7..while I'm shaving my legs, doing my laundry in my creepy rape basement, and laying in bed trying to fall asleep. It's kind of pathetic but It's clearly consumed my train of thought. I want it to look perfect, and scream AMANDA right when you walk in the door. I'm pretty sure I've filled up my memory or whatever It's called on laptops with pictures of furniture, inspiration and celebrity houses, so now would be perfect to post a couple of my favorites.

"We don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day".

A couple weeks ago I was asked by my favorite bunny Margaret owner of Some Girls Boutique if I would be interested in modeling some clothes for a photo shoot she had planned. I told her yes without hesitation. That's every girls dream right? To play dress up in amazing clothes, and have someone take your picture? Wellllll I don't know if I bumped my head and lost conscious in the exact moment that I told her yes because the night before I literally started to panic, and practicing in front of my mirror was not helping my self-esteem. I have no experience in front of the camera, I'm a complete goofball and with those said facts I've come to terms that I'm more comfortable working on the other side. When I woke up that Sunday morning, I was surprisingly more calm than I thought I was going to be. I bet that glass of white wine I had before bed had something to do with it hmmm. When I arrived at Some Girls it was down to business. Hair and make up was done, some last minute fittings, and we were off to the studio. I was first up in front of the white screen and I tried my best to channel my inner  Ashley Smith minus the gap in between her two front teeth. Thinking about it now I would have been better off with the damn gap in my teeth, we all know the fashion world loves weird and freakish imperfections on beautiful girls. Dang you mom for dragging me to the dentist every 6 months!!!!  Alas...as the day went on, and with each outfit change I became a little more relaxed. The photographers even told me I had amazing facial expressions!! That kinda made my day. I think the point I'm trying to get at by sharing this story and rambling on is I kind of overcame a small fear that day. I'm not delusional in the fact that I think I'm now qualified to sign up for season 37 of America's Next Top Model, (Tyra would crush my soul) but if ever asked again to step in front of a camera, and I say yes reading my texts in a wine haze, I'll be a little more confident than the time before. Thanks to Margaret and Some Girls Boutique for making me feel like a mini diva that day and helping me get a grip!!
